Soundtrack

Need some holiday cheer, or a soundtrack to your Christmas drinking binge?

Click Here to Download A Rockpile Christmas Album

Review:
Basically, this album is NOT what I was expecting, thing is tho, I fucking love it...and so does my mom. Major props to Alex for the mad producing skills to make this tolerable. This album is probabley the closest Fernie will ever get to Michael Buble. Bringing back the old school traditional music was just what the season needed. 5 draft beers outta 5.

Summer Ravin

Summer isnt over party people.... the post shamby dancing is red hot!! OW OW I think it was all becauase of Friendly Fire's insane skills last Friday at Bulldogs to spark the wave of heat, but thats just my professional opinion.

This Saturday, Jon from Fort Knox Fucking Five will be doing his best to follow Friendly Fire. Very spicy! I think Ill wear something funky.

Then next Wednesday: Smalltown DJs (hand claps) and The Rub from Brooklyn (stadium cheers) OWWWWW Fuck me sideways! Cant wait!!!! Rub has never been here before, Freyja has been importing their cds for like 3 years and selling them at huge markup cuz that shit was gold. They have always been near and dear to Schoolyard, Im like, PUMPED!!! This should bring out an impressive pussy posse as well. Goodtimes all around indeed!! I think Ill wear something breathable and stretchy as Im sure many lunges and totally insame Mark Steele dance moves will happening all over the fucking place.

Listen and get familiar with The Rub on the Brooklyn radio station HERE http://brooklynradio.net/

Current State of Rock'n'Roll

You know what, I always really enjoy this dood's radio show, for all you rockers out there, here's a wealth of rock info and bullshit. Loves it! www.eddietrunk.com
Last time I tuned in on sat' radio, Eddie was talking and contemplating about the future of stadium rock concerts. He was looking around at the merch booths for ACDC and Aerosmith and the Stones and thinking, "fuck, they are selling almost the exact same shit as they did back in 70s, so like, when these bands actrully die off...what super bands are gonna replace em, like we talking SUPERBANDS, whos the next? ....Metallica?? Who else?? And who of these current super bands just arnt gettin' it done anymore, but they have such a super brand that they just keep touring and for why??? Do they realllllly need the money, how many islands and yachts do they need???"

So then I got thinking... if rock bands are something that some individuals identify themselves with, what will the future look like with the age of MySpace and YouTube and all the wealth of new music out there so easily accessible. The superbands became superbands because back in the day, all people had was radio, and they listened to basically what they had too as dictated to from the radio station and record companies. So these bands created armies of fans and distinctive generations. Can new bands really create armies? Well, I guess there is Justin Beiber's story. Will 30 years from now people rock up to a Bieber show and buy a vintage Bieber tee? I wonder, eh? Completely facinating. Cuz I bought a vintage Aerosmith tee, partly becuase I was identifing with the 1970s, I fucking love that time for music, and it was almost as if I wear that tee as an homage to that time in history as well as for the love of the band, you know what Im saying??? It not JUST about the music, it was the whole experience of Aerosmith in the 70s that Im stoked on.

Eddie's show is really interesting for me, maybe not for you, but I find this comtemplation and deep thought about the current state of rock n roll extremely relevant and riveting.

Ps. Ignore this dudes gay face. Clearly he has a face for radio.

Nakusp Music Festival 2010

So like, I found myself on a winding road with a Scottish chick travelling up the Arrow Lakes for a weekend adventure of music, laughter, *snakebites, new friends, old friends, and the best damn poutine Ive ever had for Christ's sake.
Nakusp Music Fest, whaddaya say...bikers, country, rock, warm beers, boats, sunburns, it SELLS ITSELF!

From a experienced festivaler and event coordinator the whole weekend affair seemed organized and well put together, it was the fest's 7th year rock. I muchly enjoyed the lineup as much as I enjoy the people. Mason Rock Band really really got me, wow, sucker for blues anyway, but 3 hot dudes making sweet love to guitars reallllly get my attention. I also saw an acoustic set by Bif Naked, who was looking fabulous and healthy and funny as fuck. I really appriciate that women, love her. Corb Lund... amaze amaze amaze. Thank You Nakusp!

And you can be sure there was a Fernie crew up there milling around taking in some recon' for Fernie's own music fest thats gathering momentum, slowly.

*Snakebite: Tall glass, half dry cider, half light beer, shot of vodka.

WAKE UP

Today I just wanna give a big shout out to EK Radio, I know it has a new name, but it will always be EK Radio to me. Anyway, back to the shout out, I dont know who is out there really listening to it, but those guys seem to be giving it all they got for what they have, you know what Im saying? This morning my clock radio alarm went off, as I lie in bed I was totally informed about shit going on and local ads that were informative as well, then they played Billy Joel "We didnt start the fire" and I dont know about you, but THAT is a song that'll kick your ass outta bed. Sun was shining thru the window and I sprang up!! "WE DIDNT START THE FIIIIIRAAAAHH"!!!

Thats a good song to wake up and get you going. What songs pull you outta bed and get you going?
