Boobs
I should really been an advisor to the school board on what should actually be taught in junior high. I will save my rant on the lack of proper sex education in today’s school for another colorful entry, but today I shall tackle just one kinda ginormous important thing for all womankind: bras.
It’s a travesty that most women are wearing the wrong size bra. It’s a shame that most women’s lives would actually be improved in many ways both physically and mentally if they only had on a properly fitted brassier. 85% of Women are wearing the wrong size.
Ladies, it would do you all good to get fitted, learn your right size and invest in some proper over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders.
Either go see Allison at Bunches and get fitted or watch this video.
Next buy a proper bra. I know when we get shopping in stores, especially La Senza we get all excited over the “fun” bras like neon lace and zebra prints, but DO NOT BUY those over sexed ridiculous things for your everyday use. Why??? BECAUSE they will most likely not go under all your clothes properly.
This is what EVERY girl needs her drawer, no exceptions, this should treated like car insurance, you need it to drive these things around.
1. 1. A 3-Way nude bra. BORING, ya I know. But nude is the fashion rule for under light and white colored clothing – NOT WHITE. Buying a nude bra is boring, but you will most likely wear it everyday and it will flatter you and make your clothes look better on you. Spend at least $50 on this bra. You gonna wear it everyday, so $50 is a bargain. You spend $50 on a stupid shirt to wear to the bar once or twice, you can make this investment girlfriend!!
2. A Black Strapless Bra. A specifically made to wear strapless bra. Make sure it has the lining of rubber along the insides. Why, because all the little black dresses out there, sometimes they don’t all work with straps, and if the dress looks good then that’s the one you should wear, don’t be held back buy your ratty bras. Also, much fashion in the last couple years has awkward shoulder areas. Whether its racer-back tanks or one shoulder tops, you need to be free to purchase and wear this fashion and not be held back by not having the right effin bra. Screw that, get the bra. Spend at least $50 this too.
3. One sexy bra and matching panty– cuuuuzzz ya never know when you gotta pull that kinda thing out and you don’t want any Briget Jones moments to text your friend later. And if you don’t think you are ever gonna need a sexy outfit, well hunny we got bigger problems then the right bra right now. In my experience, black and nude strapless bras have been vital in my wardrobe over the years. I dont even own a white bra.

crap.
So, yes someone died in Fernie on the weekend. Its uncredibley tragic and sad. A 21 year old man from Edmonton fell off the roof of the Northern and died. The incident has in no way anything to do with the bar Bulldogs. Rumor has it the guy was brought up there and was trying to gap the buildings, like he was trying to jump from one roof to another. However in a Vancouver paper today, "foul-play" is suspected. Crap.
This is very unfortunate and sad and my heart goes out the the family. Its just soooooo sad because its one of those deaths that could have been prevented.
That being said, this incident alarmed our community. From the moment I was up on Sunday morning, my phone was busy with people trying to figure out if it was a local that died. This panic was not devulged from a dark need to gossip, it was a knee-jerk reaction to account for all of our community members. Best friend or aquactince neighbour, or friend-of-a-friend, we needed to know what happened. It was this community protection vibe that circulated. We are all saddened by this incident, it hit us all in the gut. But what was remarkable to me was that we all jumped to make sure it wasnt "one of our own". Its kinda neat and comforting to me that I live in this kind of town, where we really look out for eachother. And ya, Im going to go ahead and say it - that we all breathed a sigh of relief in a small way that it wasnt a local. Its true, it doesnt lessen what happened. I just really noticed how we are all very protective of our people here in Fernie.
So, now aside from this sad unfortunate death, my protectional instinct for this town is alarmed again with Mondays Vancouver paper - its not exactly the headlines Fernie wants to be making. New media loves a good nasty story - trust me I worked in a major city newsroom for 5 years - and aside from all the amazing things happening in and coming out of Fernie this week (like the Fernie Team killing the Freeski world right now, our community spirit for the opening of Hot Tub TM, the fact we still have a base of snow, the Fernival Festival coming up, the Reel Film Fest this weekend) the news is going to focus soley on this tragedy - especially if they are suspecting foul play. ARGH. Im not saying this death isnt worthy of news, its that its a bad mark on our town right now, sucks, just sucks.

Straight Talk on the "Quality of Life"

okay, so many of you reading of this wont know what Im even talking about, so let me give you the back story.
Recently, The City of Fernie hired a firm from the coast to conduct a "Quality of Life, Liveability + Sustainability" study. Yes another study. This study is to research through us locals why we like living in Fernie. To quote it:The City of Fernie along with Halcrow Consulting will present the Quality of Life Index and Liveability Reporting Initiative. A report that measures the vitality of our community and identifies significant trends in areas critical to our quality of life. This will be an important opportunity for community members and interested stakeholders to learn about and provide preliminary input on the proposed process for monitoring Fernie’s liveability.
The idea is that everyone in Fernie knows this is happening right now (ahhh nope) and contributes to this study. What do they do with the study after its done? Well who the fuck knows, but ideally it will help them plan where the town is going with keeping these quality of life things in mind. ahahahahahahhahahaahh ya right!! No Way Bullshit. This study is a waste of thousands of dollars.
Deep breaths.
I contributed my own personal sentiments to this study. My list included things like: I like that people are friendly, I love my friends, the nightclub scene is really good for a small town, you can walk everywhere, yada yada yada, but you know me, I just couldnt help myself, I JUST HAD to include my two cents cuz Im a shithead...
My SideNote:
I just want to note that I think having a quality of life here or really anywhere in the world requires money. This might not be the popular thing to mention, but I feel its the elephant in the room most of the time here in Fernie. Everyone in Fernie is unique, there are many different types of social sectors in Fernie - and I think they all need money for their quality of life. You want to mountain bike the trails and have weekends off to drink beer with friends? - You need money. You want to go camping and/hunting? - You need money. You want to garden all day in your hemp pants?- Well then you need money to make your steep morgage payment, so hopefully you have a husband with a good job bringing that in. You want your kids to ski race and see thier goals come to life?- Money. You want to have nice clothes and bar hop? - You need money. You want a Wildsight membership? - you need extra money. We want new fancy restaurants like "Picnic" to survive - we need more locals making reservations. You want to open a business, well you need money and people with money to support you. Money Money Money, its just the way it is. Your quality of life goes down when you lack money and jobs. We need more economic development here. We need professional jobs. When everyone has some money then we can all go have a good quality of life in what ever various reason we all want to stay here. It seems the never ending debate is the environment vs. development. Until the extreme environmentalists can wake up and understand that it IS possible to properly manage development/growth and the enviro then I cant see money really growing in Fernie, thrus a lack of quality of life.
To you can take this "study" and put it to something useful like papermache hats because not everyone is participating in this (I just randomly looked at Fernie.com, Ourfernie.com, the Free Press.ca and the City of Fernie's website and I cant find any real blatent info, and I just asked two random locals a 23 year old and a 29 year old and they never heard of it, the only thing I could find on it was a posting of the event online at OurFernie ahhhahahaha not even gonna go there, oh and I saw a poster with lots of writing on it posted on that goddamn eyesore the old movie store downtown) AND this is useless if we have no money in the valley to support everyones quality.
Hmpf.

Mog, Moggin, He was a Mog.

It's now been defined and clarified for me.
MOG: Half man, half dog.
To Mog - Is to be doggin' around looking for female tail.
Use it in a sentance.
"There is a Mog after you"
"Let's go out mogging tonight and get us some ass".
Alternatively: Half man, half dog. He's his own best friend.
Barf from Spaceballs was a mog.

Syrup Suckers

I highly enjoyed this article today...
Comedian Colbert offered job at Olympic Oval
CBC News:
Olympic gold medallist Dan Jansen, left, and The Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert announce the show has become the primary sponsor of the U.S. speedskating team for the Vancouver Olympics. (Kris Long/Comedy Central/Associated Press) The city that will play host to long-track speedskating during the 2010 Winter Olympics has waded into a cross-border confrontation, offering satirical talk-show host Stephen Colbert a job for the Games — monitoring the ice time of the U.S. speedskating team.
Colbert, who recently announced he's sponsoring the cash-strapped U.S. speedskating team during the upcoming Vancouver Games, has condemned Canadians, saying they are denying the American squad ice time for training at the Olympic oval in Richmond, B.C.
On his popular TV show The Colbert Report, the comedian recently called Canadians "syrup-sucking Canadian iceholes" and urged his viewers to send in letters demanding the country cease its icehole-ish behaviour.
On the show, Colbert — who plays the part of an over-the-top right-wing talk-show host — told his viewers to include their addresses because Canadians are so polite they'll undoubtedly reply with a thank you note.
Syrup suckers respond
In response, City of Richmond spokesman Ted Townsend sent a letter of his own to Colbert's studios in New York, offering the former Daily Show correspondent an olive branch.
"Dear cousin," the letter begins, "As a proud syrup sucker, I am saddened that you would cast aspersions on Canadians as part of your otherwise laudable quest to assist the cash-strapped American speedskating team.
"We have always welcomed our friends from south of the border with open arms (well, except in 1812). In fact, we've always fondly considered you as our American 'cousins' and politely tolerated you, even when you were in an imperialistic mood."
Townsend wrote in the letter that international skaters have never been barred from the Olympic oval, though they have been asked to follow rules to get on the ice.
"You might have noticed that us syrup-suckers are big on rules and regulating things; that's how we got universal public medicare," the letter reads.
Olympic job offer
To show there are no hard feelings, Townsend, who calls himself "chief syrup sucker," has offered Colbert a position as ombudsman of treatment for U.S. speedskaters during the 2010 Games.
The city has included a pink toque with the letter, which Townsend said could be part of Colbert's uniform during the Games.
"We hope you will take us up on this offer, dear cousin," Townsend's letter reads.
"We suggest you start the training for your new position now. A good start would be to acclimatize yourself by drinking at least one litre (oops, sorry, make that a quart, I forgot that you Americans don't do metric) of radiator anti-freeze fluid per day."
CBC News's Vancouver sports anchor Shane Foxman has also issued a challenge of his own to Colbert — for a speedskating race on the ice at the Olympic Oval. So far Colbert has not responded to the challenge.
